Agroecology Europe welcomes the publication of the European Commission’s EU Livestock Strategy and Protein Action Plan, following an extensive consultation process to which many organisations contributed expertise, scientific evidence and practical experience. However, both initiatives remain weak and ambiguous on concrete commitments, lacking measurable objectives, clear implementation pathways and an explicit recognition of agroecology as a systemic approach for transforming Europe’s food systems.
