Agroecology Europe is hiring: We’re looking for a Communication & Press Officer

Agroecology Europe is looking for a motivated Communication & Press Officer to join our team in Brussels. The selected candidate will support and strengthen the association’s communication, press, and outreach activities.

Agroecology Europe is an international non-profit organisation created in 2016 in Belgium and counts today around 200 members, including farmers, NGOs, activists, students, PhD students, and academics. It aims to analyse, design, develop, and promote the transition towards agroecology-based farming and food systems in Europe and throughout the world. It intends to place agroecology high on the European agenda of sustainable development of farming and food systems.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least Bachelor’s degree in communications, media relations, or a related field (essential).
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in communications and media relations (essential).
  • Proven experience in social media management, website management and design, graphic design, and content creation (essential).
  • Knowledge of and interest in agroecology and sustainable food systems (important).
  • Volunteering or work experience in an NGO (desirable). 

Skills and Requirements

  • Strong computer literacy, including e-mail, MS Office, and communication tools.
  • Experience in writing content for various social media platforms.
  • Demonstrated social media and networking skills.
  • Experience in organising online and inperson events.
  • Strategic, creative, and proactive mindset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks autonomously.
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken); additional languages are an asset.
  • Graphic design experience and solid working knowledge of Canva (required).
  • Knowledge of WordPress is an advantage.
  • Experience in video creation and editing is an advantage.
  • Candidates must hold valid work authorisation for Belgium.

Contract Information

  • Minimum 9month contract, with extension foreseen (subject to funding confirmation).
  • 80% position.
  • Preferred start date: April 2026.
  • Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Location: Brussels.
